Summer Programs:
MNC Summer training for the juniors takes place for ~10 weeks each summer. Athletes can choose between 3x or 4x/ week. We had over 40 athletes signed up for the 2012 summer - from 6 different school districs (BHS, SBHS, Colchester, St. Albans, CVU, MMU)!
Fall / Winter Programs:
MNC Fall & Winter training for the juniors takes place from mid-September through mid-March. Athletes can choose between 1-2x or 3x/ week. The fall and winter training groups are smaller, meaning each athlete receives more personalized instruction. Nearly 20 athletes participated in these programs last season - from 3 school districts (BHS, CVU, MMU) (2011-2012).
Participants will:
- Skate & Classic ski (or rollerski)
- Learn all aspects of technique (V1, V2, V2-alt; diagonal-stride, double pole, kick double pole; downhills, transitions, etc)
- Ski, run, bound, hike, bike and rollerski all over Chittenden County
- Become accustomed to an active- and healthy-lifestyle
- Practice race-oriented skills such as sprints and mass-starts
- Develop advanced technical skills (cornering, transitions, tactics)
- Train endurance, strength, intervals, and speed
- Have a highly skilled coaching staff
- Access to year-round training plans
- Racers can receive race-support at regional/national competitions
